Be sure to read through ALL of the information below. Failure to read through the information provided could negatively affect student performance and grades. Emails with questions that were explicitly addressed in this post will be responded to with "Please refer to Weekly Announcement."
BASELINE TESTING: Baseline Testing will begin on Tuesday, September 8, 2020. Due to the limited number of seats available for testing some classes will have students that will be asked to begin testing on Wednesday, September 9, 2020. See the "Baseline Testing" announcement, once available, for more information.
MODULE 2 NOTES: All Module 2 notes will be available under the files tab for viewing by the day they are covered in class. It is still imperative that students join class while notes are covered. There is information and explanations that are not provided in the notes that could appear on future tests. It is still a requirement for students to attend LIVE sessions at their scheduled time each day and remain in the LIVE session until dismissed.
MODULE 2 EXIT TICKETS: Module 2 Exit Tickets will open at 7:15 AM on the day indicated and will be due by 11:59 PM on the date assigned. Currently the Module 2-1 and 2-2 Exit Tickets have been assigned and are passed due. Late penalties will apply in accordance with the syllabus. The only exceptions are absences with proper documentation (i.e. a note from doctor/dentist stating the student was seen the specific date of the absence). Note, students with extended time accommodations must request the accommodation prior to the assignment is due.
MODULE 2 ASSIGNMENTS: Module 2 Assignments will open at 7:15 AM on the day indicated and will be due by 11:59 PM on the date assigned, unless specified on the assignment otherwise (see the assignment details in Teams). Late penalties will apply in accordance with the syllabus. The only exceptions are absences with proper documentation (i.e. a note from doctor/dentist stating the student was seen the specific date of the absence). Note, students with extended time accommodations must request the accommodation prior to the assignment is due.
MODULE 2 TEST AND CLOSING: Module 2 Test and Closing will be on Tuesday, September 15, 2020. The test will become available at 7:15 AM, due by 2:00 PM and close by 11:59 PM. If the test is not completed by closing a zero will be applied. Be sure to submit your test BEFORE the closing time! Any make-up test provided will NOT be the same test and will consist of more short and extended response questions at a time designated. Remember that all exit tickets and assignments will close by 2:00 PM on the test date (Tuesday, September 15, 2020), and nothing can be submitted after this time. Students with accommodations will not be provided extended time after the closing date and time.
MODULE 1 GRADES: All Module 1 Exit Tickets and Assignments closed on September 1, 2020. Sufficient time was provided to students to complete the exit tickets and assignment. Students that joined the class late due to a schedule change from another course have been addressed. If you did receive a schedule change from another course email Mr. Ison at [email protected] if you have any questions.
MODULE 1 TEST SCORES: Congratulations, of the 109 that tested, 43 students earned an A, over 88% of students passed the test, and the average grade was a "C". Average completion time for the 26-question multiple choice test was less than 20 minutes. Students that did not take the test during the 16 hours and 45 minute window the test was opened currently have a zero and will be required to take the make-up test on the date provided, otherwise the zero will stand. There were several students who were present for the LIVE session on the date of the test who did not take the test as directed and did not enter back into the LIVE session to express any technical issues as directed (which we could have resolved through the "share screen" function). If this continues to happen in the future then the zero will stand as a final grade on the test. All make-up tests will be short/extended response.
DAILY CLASS ATTENDANCE: For attendance, students will need to check into to the Live session during class. Once checked in students will be able to exit the meeting to complete the work when dismissed. Students who do not stay in the virtual meetings will be documented. Mr. Ison will be available during the scheduled class time to help with any questions. Be sure to read over all of the questions prior to the end of class so that you may get any necessary assistance while available.
STUDENT INFORMATION: Its disappointing that on assignments there were approximately 10% of students who could not correctly write their own name or identify their correct class period. This is to assist in speeding up grading. If you cannot do this correctly then it only makes providing feedback on your grades more difficult. I am more than happy to share with you or your parent that you were the cause of the delay for those that are guilty and complaining about not getting your grades back in a more timely fashion. Also, remember that the requirement for teacher turnover on grades is 10 school days from when it was due/submitted (whichever is later). Presently no assignment has made it past 5 days.
