2Q RECOVERY OPTIONS REMAINING: Students have been provided multiple opportunities this quarter to recover grades via module crosswords and Kahoot! There will also be a module crossword and two Kahoot available for Module 8. This will total to 12 recovery point opportunities (180 possible recovery points) provided this quarter. These points were designed to help recover points lost on the IETs and Assignments. These opportunities were not a surprise for students as they were in the calendar since August, and were provided in the same manner during the 1st Quarter. Additionally, students will still have the opportunity to take the 2Q Recovery Test, provided the student qualifies (see "Cornell Notes & 2Q Recovery Test" below), to recovery any or all of the four module tests. THERE ARE NO EXTENSIONS OR RECOVERY OPTIONS FOR RECOVERY OPPORTUNITIES!
CORNELL NOTES & 2Q RECOVERY TEST: As a requirement to qualify for the 2nd Quarter Recovery Test students must submit their Cornell Notes for Module 5-8. Students and parents can now see whether the Cornell Notes have been submitted within the gradebook. These will not count toward the grade, and only serve to qualify the student for the remediation test. If all Cornell Notes are not submitted by Friday, December 3, 2021 (A-Day) or Monday, December 6, 2021 (B-Day), then the student will not be eligible to take the 2nd Quarter Recovery Test. The 2nd Quarter Recovery Test is NOT REQUIRED, so there will be NO EXTENSION provided.
MODULE 8 TEST & CLOSING: The Module 8 Test will be on Friday, December 3, 2021 for A-Day students and Monday, December 6, 2021 for B-Day students. The test will become available at 7:15 AM, due by 2:00 PM and close by 11:59 PM. If the test is not completed by closing a zero will be applied. Be sure to submit your test BEFORE the closing time! The Module 8 Closing will also be on Friday, December 3, 2021 for A-Day students and Monday, December 6, 2021 for B-Day students. Any assignments not submitted by 2:00 PM on these respective days will be recorded as a zero. NO EXTENDED TIME WILL BE PROVIDED! Module 8 will be the last module of the 2nd Quarter.
HELPFUL INFORMATION FOR PARENTS (AND STUDENTS): Earlier this year I posted the following article, Helpful Information for Parents, help keep parents informed of what the course is about. The article is also helpful for students, especially with the number recently added to the course. If you are a new student to the course please take the time to read the article. This will help you catch up with insights that other students have already been given or figured out over the first semester.
ABSENCE/QUARANTINE: If you are absent from class or quarantined due to COVID-19 tracing and told to work from home, you need to check the Weekly Announcement for what work will be covered in class each day. The notes will be posted in Teams under the Files tab. The assignments will appear in the Assignments section on Teams. You have access to a digital text book (Open Stax) via the link provided, on the class website (IsonBiology.com), on the course syllabus (located in the Class Material folder in the Files tab). There are also tutorials available on the class website.
