Be sure to read through ALL of the information below. Failure to read through the information provided could negatively affect student performance and grades. Emails with questions that were explicitly addressed in this post will be responded to with "Please refer to the Weekly Announcement." If you have ANY questions not addressed in the Weekly Announcement you may email me directly at [email protected].
MODULE 7 TEST & CLOSING: The Module 7 Test will be on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 for A-Day students and Wednesday, November 17, 2021 for B-Day students. The test will become available at 7:15 AM, due by 2:00 PM and close by 11:59 PM. If the test is not completed by closing a zero will be applied. Be sure to submit your test BEFORE the closing time! The Module 7 Closing will also be on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 for A-Day students and Wednesday, November 17, 2021 for B-Day students. Any assignments not submitted by 2:00 PM on these respective days will be recorded as a zero. NO EXTENDED TIME WILL BE PROVIDED!
UPDATE TO DUE DATES: With technology readily available to students and ease of access to Teams and Forms via mobile devices, I am going to honor the requests I have received. Starting Module 8 there will be a change to the time in which all IET and Assignments are due. All IETs will be due the same day as assigned by 2:00 PM. All assignments will be due the same day as assigned by 11:59 PM. This still should not require homework as there has more than enough time provided in class to complete the IETs and Assignments. This is evidenced by the number of IETs and Assignments submitted from Modules 1-7 within the scheduled class time.
This modification will assist me in pulling reports sooner so that grades may be entered in a more timely manner, though I have continued to enter grades by the contractually required deadline. Do understand, once a zero has been entered for an IET or Assignment it will remain until after the module closes and another report is pulled. A late penalty of 20% will apply in accordance with the syllabus.
Students with extended time accommodations due to a 504 or IEP will still be afforded their extended time accommodation, but must understand that extended time has to be requested prior to the IET or Assignment being due AND that all time provided prior to the IET or Assignment being due must be utilized to complete it. Students with a 504 or IEP must be on task to be granted any extended time accommodation.
MODULE 8 TEST & CLOSING: The Module 8 Test will be on Friday, December 3, 2021 for A-Day students and Monday, December 6, 2021 for B-Day students. The test will become available at 7:15 AM, due by 2:00 PM and close by 11:59 PM. If the test is not completed by closing a zero will be applied. Be sure to submit your test BEFORE the closing time! The Module 8 Closing will also be on Friday, December 3, 2021 for A-Day students and Monday, December 6, 2021 for B-Day students. Any assignments not submitted by 2:00 PM on these respective days will be recorded as a zero. NO EXTENDED TIME WILL BE PROVIDED! Module 8 will be the last module of the 2nd Quarter.
CORNELL NOTES IN GRADEBOOK: As a requirement to qualify for the 2nd Quarter Recovery Test students must submit their Cornell Notes for Module 5-8. Students and parents can now see whether the Cornell Notes have been submitted within the gradebook. These will not count toward the grade, and only serve to qualify the student for the remediation test. If all Cornell Notes are not submitted by Friday, December 3, 2021 (A-Day) or Monday, December 6, 2021 (B-Day), then the student will not be eligible to take the 2nd Quarter Recovery Test. The 2nd Quarter Recovery Test is NOT REQUIRED, so there will be NO EXTENSION provided.
HELPFUL INFORMATION FOR PARENTS (AND STUDENTS): Earlier this year I posted the following article, Helpful Information for Parents, help keep parents informed of what the course is about. The article is also helpful for students, especially with the number recently added to the course. If you are a new student to the course please take the time to read the article. This will help you catch up with insights that other students have already been given or figured out over the first semester.
ABSENCE/QUARANTINE: If you are absent from class or quarantined due to COVID-19 tracing and told to work from home, you need to check the Weekly Announcement for what work will be covered in class each day. The notes will be posted in Teams under the Files tab. The assignments will appear in the Assignments section on Teams. You have access to a digital text book (Open Stax) via the link provided, on the class website (IsonBiology.com), on the course syllabus (located in the Class Material folder in the Files tab). There are also tutorials available on the class website.
