Be sure to read through ALL of the information below. Failure to read through the information provided could negatively affect student performance and grades. Emails with questions that were explicitly addressed in this post will be responded to with "Please refer to the Weekly Announcement." If you have ANY questions not addressed in the Weekly Announcement you may email me directly at [email protected].
MODULE 7 TEST & CLOSING: Due to the weather closure on Thursday, November 10 the Module 7 Test and closing has been postponed. The Module 7 Test will now be on Monday, November 28, 2022. The test will become available at 7:15 AM, due by the end of class and close by 11:59 PM. If the test is not completed by closing a zero will be applied. Be sure to submit your test BEFORE the closing time! The Module 7 Closing will also be on Monday, November 28, 2022. Any assignments not submitted by 7:15 AM on the closing day will permanently be recorded as a zero.
MAKE-UP TESTS/TESTING ISSUES: Students missing class or not completing tests as assigned will have a zero entered in the gradebook. Failure to complete the test when assigned as make-up will result in a late penalty on any further opportunity AND may result in the student taking a short/extended response version of the test. It has been stressed that you are to take the test on the test days in class. Some students are not doing so, instead having to be reminded to get on task or stop disturbing others. Students who are disturbing class during the test and do not submit their test on time will be marked as late. Students that are disturbing class will not be given a make up opportunity if it is not submitted and it will be noted as a "refusal to test." There is a noticeable pattern of certain students missing test days, therefore, students that are not present in class on test day will forfeit any Kahoot or Crossword recovery points.
SUBMISSION OF ASSIGNMENTS: I have repeated this many times this year and this is to further document it being stated. Work is not submitted in Teams. You must click the SUBMIT button in the Microsoft Form for the your responses to be turned in to me. Also, if there is a question as to whether you turned in the assignment you have two options, check your student email for the receipt if you clicked the receipt button as told to do OR you can reopen the assignment's form and if it's not closed (see the closing date and time below) and still available for you to complete then you didn't submit it.
HELPFUL INFORMATION FOR PARENTS (AND STUDENTS): To help keep parents informed please take the time to read the article Helpful Information for Parents. The article will also be helpful for students. Over the past few years I have received countless feedback from parents and students about it's usefulness in understanding how the course is run. The information provided in the article answers many of the frequently asked questions I receive.
ABSENCE(S): If you are absent from class for any reason you need to check the Weekly Announcement for what work will be covered in class each day. Assignments will continue to appear in the Assignments section on Teams. Students missing class are expected to complete all assignments and tests. Students missing class are expected to read the available textbook and view available tutorials. Students have access to a digital text book (Open Stax) via the link provided, on the class website (IsonBiology.com), and on the course syllabus (located in the Course Documents folder in the Files tab). The tutorials are available on the class website. Remember, if you go over 5 days absent in a 30-day period or 10 days absent in a semester you may be in jeopardy of losing your driver's license per Florida Statute.
