In this announcement: Module 12 Test & Closing | Module 10 & 11 Make-up Tests | Academic Honesty| Absences
MODULE 12 TEST & CLOSING: The Module 12 Test will be on Friday, March 3, 2023. The test will become available at 7:15 AM, due by the end of class and close by 11:59 PM. If the test is not completed by closing a zero will be applied. Be sure to submit your test BEFORE the closing time! The Module 12 Closing will also be on Friday, March 3, 2023. Any assignments not submitted by 7:15 AM on the closing day will permanently be recorded as a zero. Module 12 will be the last module scored towards the 3rd Quarter grade.
MODULE 10 & 11 MAKE-UP TESTS: The Module 10 & 11 Make-up Tests will be available for students who were not present in class when they were assigned. The make-up test will be available starting at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 24, 2023 and will remain available until 7:15 AM on Monday, February 27, 2023. Once a make-up test is opened you will have 3 hours to submit the test. Any student that does not take the make-up test as assigned will keep the zero as a permanent grade, consider it homework. The test may contain a mixture of short and extended response questions, fill-in-the blank, and multiple choice questions. Also see "Academic Honesty" below.
ACADEMIC HONESTY: Some students have resorted to using Google to search assignment and test questions. You must cite your source if you're using any source outside of the notes provided in class, this includes the in-class or OpenStax textbooks. "Directions on Citing Information on Assignments" can be found in the "Class Documents" folder on Teams. Any student found to be cheating (plagiarism included) on the test will receive a zero and a referral may be submitted in accordance with the DCPS Student Code of Conduct (this is not "double jeopardy", but an academic and code of conduct consequence as provided for under DCSB Policy). Clearly some facts are facts, but students need to write their own answers in their own words. Further, I have seen students using anatomy terms not taught at the high school level, but that can be found in a Google search. I will quiz you on their meaning if I see terminology not taught in our class in your answer. If you cannot explain them, then your answer will be counted wrong.
ABSENCE(S): If you are absent from class for any reason you need to check the Weekly Announcement for what work will be covered in class each day. Assignments will continue to appear in the Assignments section on Teams. Students missing class are expected to complete all assignments and tests. Students missing class are expected to read the available textbook and view available tutorials. Students have access to a digital text book (Open Stax) via the link provided, on the class website (IsonBiology.com), and on the course syllabus (located in the Course Documents folder in the Files tab). The tutorials are available on the class website. Students missing more than 5 days in a 30-Day period or 10 days in a 90-Day period will be addressed in accordance with School Board Policy 5.42 and the Florida Statutes concerning truancy.
