DEOC REVIEW: Students will begin to have access to DEOC Review Assignments starting Tuesday, April 11, 2023. Students are required to complete a minimum of four (4) DEOC Review Assignments, however, students may choose to complete all of them to help improve their overall grades. The first assignment will be due by the end of class on Thursday, April 13. The second assignment will be due by the end of class on Monday, April 17. The third assignment will be due by the end of class on Wednesday, April 19. The fourth assignment will be due by the end of class on Friday, April 21. All DEOC Review Assignments will be submitted via Microsoft Forms, as has been the practice all year. Students may work on additional DEOC Review Assignments until they begin their DEOC Exam or the start of class Monday, May 1, 2023, whichever is sooner. More information on the DEOC Reviews will be provided to students in class.
DEOC EXAM: The District End-of-Course (DEOC) counts 1/5th (20%) of a student's grade for the entire year. It is equal to an entire quarter grade! The DEOC will become available to students on Tuesday, April 25. Students have one class period to complete the DEOC. Students will not be able to use notes or any other forms of technology during their test other than their student laptop, solely for the purpose of completing the DEOC. The DEOC will be available in class on Tuesday, April 25, Thursday, April 27, and Monday, May 1, 2023. Students that have not taken the DEOC by May 1, 2023 will be required to take it on May 1, 2023. It is important that students take their DEOC for Anatomy & Physiology NO LATER THAN May 1, 2023, due to testing shutdowns, AP Testing, Senior deadlines, etc. All students MUST complete their DEOC during one of the testing sessions I have identified, otherwise the test will be reported as invalid. DO NOT OPEN THE ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY DEOC OUTSIDE OF THE SESSIONS I HAVE IDENTIFIED!
ACADEMIC HONESTY: Some students have resorted to using Google to search assignment and test questions. You must cite your source if you're using any source outside of the notes provided in class, this includes the in-class or OpenStax textbooks. "Directions on Citing Information on Assignments" can be found in the "Class Documents" folder on Teams. Any student found to be cheating (plagiarism included) on the test will receive a zero and a referral may be submitted in accordance with the DCPS Student Code of Conduct (this is not "double jeopardy", but an academic and code of conduct consequence as provided for under DCSB Policy). Clearly some facts are facts, but students need to write their own answers in their own words. Further, I have seen students using anatomy terms not taught at the high school level, but that can be found in a Google search. I will quiz you on their meaning if I see terminology not taught in our class in your answer. If you cannot explain them, then your answer will be counted wrong.
ABSENCE(S): If you are absent from class for any reason you need to check the Weekly Announcement for what work will be covered in class each day. Assignments will continue to appear in the Assignments section on Teams. Students missing class are expected to complete all assignments and make up any missed tests. Students missing class are expected to read the available textbook and view available tutorials. Students have access to a digital text book (Open Stax) via the link provided, on the class website (IsonBiology.com), and on the course syllabus (located in the Course Documents folder in the Files tab). The tutorials are available on the class website. Students missing more than 5 days in a 30-Day period or 10 days in a 90-Day period will be addressed in accordance with School Board Policy 5.42 and the Florida Statutes concerning truancy.
